Empowering your own health journey

The road to health and vitality is one where we may be the driver or a passenger. Being the “driver” of our own health means understanding how the body works, what works best for you and how best to implement that knowledge in the context of the modern lifestyle and your own daily rhythms.

Imagine a chair. It has four legs and sits evenly on the ground. The chair is pleasant to sit upon, and enables you to enjoy your meal, look out upon a view and the company of friends. If the chair has uneven legs, we find it is near impossible to enjoy the moment whilst sitting on the chair. We find ourselves constantly trying to readjust to the imbalances. This prevents us from being able to be present and prevents us from flourishing.

So too with our health.

Each leg of the chair represents a foundation for wellness and vitality: diet and nutrition, sleep and rest, exercise and stress management. If we focus all of our attention on one leg of the chair – say food – then the overall health does not flourish, as we find we are placing little energy into the balance of the whole. This is where education and understanding become powerful tools to help us flourish and become the drivers of our own health.

Education promotes understanding and that understanding helps us sift through the minefield of information that is available today. Not all of what is out in the marketplace is accurate or appropriate for each of us, and knowing how to sort that knowledge and critically evaluate what is appropriate becomes a very powerful tool in managing and directing one’s own health journey to vitality.
